High School!

Don't get me wrong becasue I love ninth grade, but I absolutely can't wait for high school! I was at the Davis High Football game on friday, and I was talking to some of my friends that are in high school. They all said that high school is so much fun, and I just can't wait! The thing that I'm most excited about is being able to drive! It scares me a little bit, but just being able to go where I want when I want sounds so great. Now I won't have to wait for my mom to take me, or make my brother take me somewhere grudgingly. Another fun thing about high school will be the dances. The big asking and answering thing sounds so fun, and then dressing up will be a blast. I just hope I won't have an embarassing experience like a girl that lives by me did. The Peters are a really fun family that live down the street from me, but their daughter Mckenzie had a funny experience with a boy asking her to prom. The boy was sitting in his car by her house, and her dad is a policeman. When he saw the boy lurking by their house he walked over to get mad at him. The boy was scared out of his wits, and when he was asked what he was doing he quickly responded, "I'm here to ask your daughter to prom sir." Her dad felt extremely stupid and learned his lesson. The Peters's have an ongoing joke about that incident now. My brother went to homecoming last night and I can't wait till I'm old enough. All the girls' dresses were so elegant and fancy. Jess's dress was such a pretty color of turquoise I fell in love with it. My sister has a dress that fits me already and it just makes me even more excited for high school. The boys' suits looked so nice, and I think they even had a little dressing up for the dance. Another fun thing about high school will be all the fun classes that you can take. I am really into history and the civil war, it's kinda funny how much I love it. I first figured out my obsession when I read Gone with the Wind. I just find the time so interesting with all of its history. So I will be very happy when I can take A.P. American from Mrs. Dau, who I hear is an amazing teacher. Also, something fun about high school will be that all the boys won't be short anymore, and they will look more grown up.
So the other day after mutual, all the young men and women came over to my house and we had duck. It was surprisingly one of the best things I have every put in my mouth. It had the same texture as steak, and almost tasted the same except it was a lot sweeter. I just love trying new things, whether its food or just something I've never experienced before!

My First Month of Ninth Grade!

So far my ninth grade year has been an absolute blast! I have loved every single minute of it and actually look forward to going to school everyday. When people say that ninth grade has been their favorite year so far I think that will ring true for me also. During the summer I called the school and requested all the hard teachers and was a little nervous for the challenges that it would bring. Now that I have had a while for all the kinks to sort themselves out I am so glad that I was brave and took the more challenging classes. I am excited to learn more throughout the year and get ready for high school. I've realized lately that I am a little bit of a nerd but I don't really care anymore because I love school and I love to learn. That sounds so incredibly nerdy but I really do love it. My favorite class is geography with Mr. Carter because it really can't get any better than that. He is the most amazing teacher and I learn so much from him even though I'm not so crazy about geography. I have also been a part of the Davis High Girls Tennis Team and I can't even say how happy I am that I decided to play because it has been the funnest experience. All the girls are so nice and are so nice to me even though I am just a freshman. Tomorrow I get the opportunity to go to St. George for a tennis tournament and I am absolutely psyched! It is going to be a blast becasue the girls are so fun, I love tennis, and we get to go to Costa Vida. Does it really get any better than that? I believe it can't! My doubles partner and I have won all six of our matches and we are hoping to win our matches in the future. I have improved immensely and I should improve even more before the season comes to an end. I have had a lot more homework this year than last, but I think it will all be worth it in the end. Setting up all of these honors english accounts was a pain, but now that it is all finished I have settled down a bit and I'm very excited for this class. I am also taking biology and I haven't been so crazy about going outside everyday and watching nature. I especially don't like it when nothing happens. One of the days when I was outside observing I saw my biggest enemy, and guess what that is? A snake! I wigged out and bolted inside screaming with plenty of volume. I have had my own share of horrible experiences with those slithering creatures and would not shed a tear if I never had to lay eyes on one again! It makes me cringe just to be writing about it right now.
